Problem: Teaching in the Time of COVID
To help ensure the safety of their students and staff during the pandemic, Hanger Hall School For Girls set up sophisticated open-air outdoor tent classrooms. Enabling teacher’s voices to be heard over traffic and wind noise, while simultaneously broadcasting to remote students via Zoom provided a challenge. Keeping teachers mobile and not tethered to a fixed microphone stand was also a significant concern.
Solution: Unobtrusive Wireless Technology
Harmony (on a tight school-opening deadline) engineered a wireless solution allowing teachers to broadcast their voice directly into a Zoom class session, while simultaneously sending it to a small self-powered PA speaker when the need to overcome ambient noise arises. A body-pack transmitter and ultra slimline headset microphone keep teachers mobile and comfortable. The headset mic can even be worn under a mask. Multiple tent classrooms in close proximity required multiple wireless transmission channels. Dual outputs on the wireless receivers make sure the teacher’s voice goes everywhere it needs to be heard.
Proud to be in our 21st year, Hanger Hall School for Girls serves 77 girls in grades 6, 7 and 8 grades. Our school focuses on providing a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes a sense of belonging, creativity, self-confidence, personal motivation and desire for knowledge for our students and community.
Because of the health and safety restrictions brought on by COVID19, we began the 2020-2021 school year teaching in outdoor classrooms and required audio equipment to support our students’ learning both on campus as well as the students who are selecting to learn from home.
Harmony Interiors donated their time and expertise to help Hanger Hall design and deliver a complete classroom experience for our students learning in person in our new classrooms as well as the ones learning from home. We are incredibly grateful to Harmony Interiors.
